"Ian taught me a lot of cool stuff from just mystery tunes and whole notes
to rocking around the Christmas tree and eighth notes. I enjoy all the stuff
he does. Even though learning is a little tricky he makes it fun by using
games to improve our writing, reading and hearing in music. My dad would've
taught me but he didn't know the notes names. When we were in starbucks my
big sister saw an add for guitar lessons from Ian. Ian went to her school so
my big sister talked my dad into signing me up for lessons.Since Ian went
to my big sisters school she told me all the great things about Ian and his
passion for music. On my first lesson i was a little nervous but after
getting to Ian he is a really great guy.

"Guitar lessons aren't just for kids! I have been playing for over 20 years, and know how difficult it can be to find an instructor with a solid educational background that is capable of demonstrating the complexities of guitar theory in a way that is both practical and entertaining. Ian Parliament is just such an instructor, and I would highly recommend him to anyone who seriously wishes to increase their knowledge and competency with this instrument. I have been an avid blues fan for many years, and Ian has made learning theory extremely enjoyable by incorporating my favourite musical styles into my learning. I look forward to each week's lesson, the casual atmosphere and relaxed learning environment makes for a stress-free experience."

"Our son, Jonathan, looks forward to his weekly guitar lesson with Ian. Ian establishes an excellent rapport with students and parents. He provides a balanced structure to the lessons, keeping the student engaged and challenged (but also offering encouragement and making the session fun). We appreciate how Ian has customized the lessons, taking into account Jonathan’s personal taste in music and his learning style. Ian is an amazing musician himself, and has inspired our son to want to keep improving his own guitar skills. We feel that Ian is an exceptional teacher and highly recommend him for students of all ages and levels."

"Ian has taught me a lot of songs that I enjoy playing, for example many Beatles songs. He makes me want to practice and makes playing the guitar fun! I don't really feel like I am learning when I am with Ian, but I am because I have come so far in the 3 years I have had Ian as my teacher. The theory that I learned has helped me to get good grades in my music class at school. I would recommend Ian to all of my friends."

"Ian is a very patient teacher who allows his students to learn at their own pace and tailors the lessons to reflect their own musical interests."

"My son Mathieu has been taking
lessons with Ian for three years now. In these three years, Mathieu's
playing and understanding of music theory have increased
tremendously. Ian utilizes the songs selected by the student to both
teach the "mechanics" of playing (fingering , styles, chord
patterns, and so on) but also explains the underlying key musical theory
concepts (scales, rythms, etc. . . .) . Before they know it, the students
have learned to play a new song AND picked up some new theory. Ian
has a very relaxed style that will appeal to students at all levels."
